Simple lighting Portrait Workshop #01

March 28 & 29, 2026

 

I’m excited to announce my first photo walk portrait workshop with a model for 2026! We will be using off-camera flash with one light and a small, affordable modifier. This experience will focus on walking with me as we seek out good lighting or create better light using a single speedlight and a small modifier. I’ll explain my thought process regarding background choices, composition, and why I would choose flash over natural light.

 

You'll have the opportunity to use your own camera with my flash. I will be utilizing the Godox V100 speedlight along with an X3 trigger. If you have your own trigger, feel free to bring it and connect to my flash. I also have a limited number of Godox flash triggers available for borrowing.

 

There are two days available for this workshop (details below). Please note that the second day is not a continuation of the first; I will be covering the same material on both days. I'm offering a $10 discount off the total price if you choose to attend both days.

I am by no means getting rich from these workshops. My goal is to give back to the photography community here in Hawaii by sharing the knowledge I have gained throughout my photography journey. Please understand that 80% of the workshop fees are to compensate the model for her time. I'll have 2 different models, one for each day.

- Time: 10 AM - 12 PM

- Cost: 

 - $35 for one day

  - $60 for two days (SAVE $10)

You must have a basic understanding of how a flash works. Unfortunately, I will not have time to walk you through setting up your flash to connect to your camera or to troubleshoot any issues you may have with it.

 

This photo walk is limited to 10 participants per day.

 

RECOMMENDED Lens, f/2.8 or faster, but not necessary.

- Fujifilm XT-5

-Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 WR (85mm full-frame equivalent)

- Godox V100 with X3 trigger

- VND (1-5 stop Variable Neutral Density Filter)

- Fujifilm X100VI with a 50mm f/2 conversion lens

- Godox IT32/X5F (for Fujifilm X100VI)

 

**Accepted Payment Types:** PayPal, Venmo, and credit card. After you sign up, you will receive an email with a payment link. Once I receive your payment, I will send you a Google Maps pin to the workshop meeting location. I kindly ask that you do not share this location with anyone.
