JAPAN 2024...April 29,2024

Updated: Mar 1

We returned home from Osaka/Tokyo last week Sunday. What an experience!!! We will definitely go back! I caught a cold, which is all pau except for this nagging cough, and we were both super jet-lagged last week. In the meantime, I’ve been trying to edit the pics I took. So here are all the numbers: 2997 frames shot in 10 days, 142 images edited, and 49 hand-picked for sharing. I’m sure I missed some gems, and I’ll go back to sort through the entire catalog later date.

Osaka is an absolutely amazing place for street photography! Every morning at 6 a.m., I wandered around and got lost in the streets near the hotel for about an hour before breakfast. I got some of my best street shots here! There are so many people around you, and they all have an agenda to get to where they need to be, mainly work and school, that they really don’t notice you.

“The hotel, Swissotel Nankai Osaka, we stayed at had a rail station below it, Nankai Namba Station, so the people traffic was major choke!” but I was able to isolate this puy walking through."

By 8 a.m., thousands of people were coming in and out of the main station on the second level, and more were also coming from the basement-level trains. What I really wanted to do, but unfortunately, I was alone during my morning walks, was to have someone stand perfectly still in the mess of moving people, slow down my shutter to a fifth of a second to freeze that person, and blur everyone walking around him.

Waiting for the next train to arrive.

A BIG MAHALO to @lanaistravelclubofficial for the tour & putting everything together! Also, @mr_nes Nestor Takamiyagi, for the extended guidance throughout our extended 4-day stay in Tokyo!
