Yesterday morning was so strange, I left the house at 4:45 & while pulling out of the driveway I decided to go to Sandy's to shoot, I had no clue where I was about to drive to! I drove down to Sandy's but instead of taking a right I continued on & wanted to check out Makapuu Beach. I got there & slowly drove through the parking lot trying to feel any kind of vibe to stay but...nothing! I pull out of the lot & headed back to Sandy's & still no positive vibes!? I so out of sync with my creativity right now it's frustrating!
I did take my 16-55mm zoom lens but found that I was pretty much shooting at 16mm, which is the same as my trusty 16mm prime I'v been using for the past several months. I find it hard to shoot with a longer lens & make a compelling composition. With that zoom you get the compression & brings thing that are farther away, closer. I believe one has to train one's eye to see that way thru the viewfinder. I have to say that the Fuji XF15-55mm f/2.8 LM WR is sharp as nails, love this lens, but I think it's more suited for events!!!
I found what looked like a very good composition but the waves or something wasn't right?! I decided to play around with my Lee Filter Super Stopper & see what I could do with it. & got this comp. It took 7 minutes to create this frame. I think I slowed down the motion of the waves down too much, that's what's missing, no motion of the middle ground elements.
Going to try another lens on this weekends journey & well see what happens on our hike.
Aloha a hui hou my friends!
