If any of you have noticed, in all my pictures from the Pacific Ink & Art Expo, I focus my lens on the hands of the artist, which will always be tact sharp. I don't really mind that their face is slightly out of focus. The way I see each capture is that the hands guides the artists vision, every line, every stroke is preciously calculated through the minds eyes. The hands express the soul of the artist. I love taking all these portraits of the tattoo artist & look forward to every years tattoo expo.
To the others who view my work, these images I capture, "all look alike" & every other photographers images from the tattoo expo, "all look alike", so I've been told. I have to disagree with that statement & is so very untrue. Each image that I attempt to capture is a window into the essence of the artist or person that is in front of my lens. It becomes more than a passion & at time it hurts my soul not being able to express my vision. My hopes, is that to the artist, the person receiving the inked art & myself, these images are precious..just my thoughts for today…Aloha, Ryan
