Found a cave with 2 entry ways, the 1st entry is way too small to walk through, the 2nd way I'd have to walk around in front , so had to time it when the waves receded. It was low tide but this is Makapuu there was always the set of swells that were fairly large, usually it would roll in with 3 sets then subside. I wasn't planning on getting wet & amazingly didn't, for the most part! I did have to yank my tripod over my head several times to keep my gear out of harms way. I actually found this cave on Saturday but decided to come back to see if I could get a better shot. The tides were perfect & the rocks slippery, when you venture out to this type of location please take every precaution to ensure your safety. If your shooting with a buddy, let them know where you are, just to be on the safe side.
I was shooting with my newly acquired Zeiss Batis 18mm f2.8 & was playing around with the focusing Area & found the zone mode got the foreground rocks to Manana & Kaohikaipu islands tack sharp, love this lens!!! The 18mm fills my needs for the super wide view. I'm planning to sell my Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2, it's plenty sharp too but I hardly use it, mostly because I find 25mm too restricting, I so love the super wides! If anyone's interested drop me a note.
