FLOATING LANTERN CEREMONY 2016...05.30.16

There's something special about the Floating Lantern ceremony, personally I go to capture moments & the emotions that this event brings to each family, happiness, sadness, a time to remember a loved one who has pasted. The air is filled with Aloha. I followed 2 families to document their journey. Unfortunately I didn't get their names but gave them my contact info so I could share my images with them.

In this series of pictures below, a young Japanese lady with her son takes a moment to pay their respects to their loved one before releasing their floating lantern.

I shot this entire event in black & white with a Fuji XPro 2 camera, with the Acros film simulation & a 23mm f/1.4 lens. I'll put up a gallery with all my images from the 2016 Floating Lantern Ceremony at Ala Moana Beach Park.

If you recognize anyone in the gallery please ask them to send me an email, I would love to share my images with them.

Aloha a hui hou my friends!
